Your character’s journey in Cyberpunk 2077 will greatly differ depending on three possible lifepaths. These are unique origin stories or prologues designed to enrich the game world.
You’ll meet memorable characters and companions, and you’ll take a tour of Night City (and beyond) as you go along. Here’s our guide to help you out.
Cyberpunk 2077: Choosing a lifepath
Choosing a lifepath in Cyberpunk 2077 happens before you even customize your character’s looks. From the get-go, you’re presented with three options:
- Nomad Streetkid Corpo
This lifepath takes your character, V, to the Badlands. This desert area has a number of clans and a bit of lawlessness that rivals Night City itself.
After a few interactions, you’ll eventually make your way through customs to reach Night City.
This lifepath has V starting out in Night City. Based on the prologue’s name, you’ll know that this is all about the dregs of society, street gangs, and turf wars.
The goal here is to steal a high-end car to pay off a friend’s debt. That sounds like The Fast & The Furious set in a dystopian future.
Similar to the Streetkid lifepath, this origin story in Cyberpunk 2077 also begins in Night City. However, V is an operative for the Arasaka Corporation, and you’ll experience the high-tech, cutthroat lifestyle of this world.
Without spoiling too much, you’re tasked with helping out your boss, but things don’t go according to plan.
Cyberpunk 2077‘s lifepath choices sees the story unfold in different ways, even how you learn some of the game’s basics. Likewise, these prologues play a role in the characters you meet and how some would react to you down the line. My suggestion is to choose a lifepath that appeals to you and see that campaign through. At the very least, you’ll get to immerse yourself in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 from start to finish.
Anyway, after roughly four to five hours (it really depends on whether you breeze through the prologue or take your time), you could meet up with Johnny Silverhand.
