EA celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with new update for The Sims 4

If you were not aware, Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15 in North America. While we are approaching the tail-end of things, that does not mean the celebrations have to stop. Together with SOMOS EA, the Hispanic/Latin employee resource group within EA, the team behind The Sims 4 has put together a Hispanic Heritage Month DLC package. Chicano artist Mister Cartoon also had a hand in creating this new The Sims 4 update.

Players can look forward to several additions with this new The Sims 4 update. Your simulated families can now utilize the Chiminea. This is a free-standing clay cooking pot that can be used for grilling. New dishes such as Asado, Grilled Plantains, Churrasco, Pinchos, Choripan, Chimis, Chimichurri Skewers, Elotes, and Pollo a la Brasa are ready to be made and impress your guests.

There is also new outdoor decor, with pottery, an arbor, and paintings that can be used outside or indoors. You can also spice up the kitchen with a colorfully painted dining table and chairs. Your Sims will see new wardrobe additions as well. New clothing items that see designs from Mister Cartoon are also up for grabs. A backyard party is definitely in the cards following this new The Sims 4 update.

A party for everyone

The celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month is but the tip of the iceberg for The Sims 4‘s efforts to improve racial representation and diversity. More updates will come at the end of the year, adding even more skin tones via swatches and sliders for adjustments.

For now, the new The Sims 4 update tweaked two of the hairstyles in the base game. The ‘long braided pulled back’ feminine style and the ‘Afro medium’ masculine style are now more realistic with better textures. Certain issues with existing skin swatches, especially for the darker skin tones, have also been resolved.

Nevertheless, every step in the right direction is a positive move. Fans of The Sims 4 can expect more in the following months.
