More DLC content coming to Borderlands 3 this year

At this year’s digital PAX event, Borderlands developer Gearbox Software detailed what’s to come for Borderlands 3 in 2020. Aside from detailing next-generation console plans, which includes a free upgrade, the developer announced that more Borderlands 3 DLC content is coming to all versions of the game.

The next paid add-on for Borderlands 3 comes later this year, but it will look a little different compared to existing DLC. Rather than another campaign add on, the upcoming content drop will include a brand new game mode, as well as one new skill tree for each Vault Hunter. Those new skill trees will also bring new action skills to the game.

During the Gearbox PAX Digital Showcase, Gearbox showed off an in-depth look at FL4K’s new “Trapper” skill tree. It emphasizes shields and survivability for both FL4K and their pet, and adds FL4K’s new Action Skill—the Gravity Snare. The throwable trap tosses enemies up into the air before slamming them back into the ground. Enemies caught in the Gravity Snare radius will have their attacks interrupted, giving FL4K a crowd control skill for the first time.

A pet sanctuary

Speaking of pets, this upcoming add-on brings the Hyperion Loaderbot, a new pet option for FL4k. The new pet can be configured in three ways: the ION loader, BUL loader, and WAR loader. The ION loader fires slow-moving projectiles that can be shot to create powerful shock novas. The BUL variant charges enemies and knocks them into the air with its shield while the WAR loader contains an incendiary shotgun, throwable grenades, and homing missiles.

In September, the fourth and final campaign add-on for Borderlands 3 wrapped up the season pass. That final add-on revisited the mind of the twisted Psycho Krieg from Borderlands 2. Whilst that means that story DLC should be wrapped up for Borderlands 3, you never know whether that will be the case. After all, Borderlands 2 continued to drop story content well after its season pass finished.

The next DLC for Borderlands 3 drops sometime later this year.
