A recent rumor from a person known simply as Wjm47196 has indicated that the price for the company’s new flagship graphics card will be a bit higher than its previously top-level consumer card, the RTX 2080 Ti. According to the forum user, who does have a track record of accurate rumors, the GeForce RTX 3090 is going to have a base price of $1399 USD. A Founders Edition of the new card could cost at least $100 more, bringing the price to $1499 USD before even considering the custom cards that are sure to be released post launch.

The most powerful Nvidia GeForce yet

When the new lineup of Ampere-powered graphics cards launch later this year, they will almost certainly be more powerful than anything previously available to consumers. The leaked details added that the GeForce RTX 3090 will have the GA102-300-A1 GPU that is built with 5248 CUDA cores, a 20% increase over the 2080 Ti.

The card will also have up to 24GB GDDR6X memory with a memory clock of up to 21 Gbps allowing for users to take advantage of the highest resolutions possible for the next-generation of games. The 24GB of memory represents an increase of more than double that of the 2080 Ti, which featured 11GB of GDDR6 memory.

As a whole, the GA102 GPU will provide a nearly 40%-50% performance boost over the previous generation Nvidia GeForce cards.
