At today’s PlayStation 5 Showcase stream, we got a peek at lots of exclusives for the upcoming console that will be making it to PC. That includes the next entry in Capcom’s legendary survival horror franchise as we got a brand new Resident Evil Village trailer.
In the trailer we get to see more of Ethan from Resident Evil 7 as well as series mainstay Chris Redfield. Like the previous trailer, it seems that Chris is being portrayed in a more sinister, villainous light. It will be interesting to see where that goes story-wise. We also get to see more of the werewolves that are heavily featured in the game as well.
Once again the mysterious cult with very similar vibes to the cult from Resident Evil 4 shows up, and their symbol even features the Las Plagas parasite from RE4. Near the end of the trailer we see something very visually interesting that we have never seen in a Resident Evil game before. A very Tim Burton, Coraline type animation sequence telling the story Mia, Ethan’s wife that you (canonically) save at the end of Resident Evil 7, tells in the first trailer as well. It seems that this story will feature very heavily in the game’s own narrative.
Got some games on sale stranger…
The trailer ends with a mysterious merchant type figure that is very similar to the merchant from Resident Evil 4. Well, if he put on a few pounds that is. This Resident Evil Village trailer is doubling down on the similarities to Resident Evil 4 that was already very prevalent in the debut trailer. Maybe we might even see Leon come back in this new entry. He needs redemption considering his last appearance was in the much-maligned Resdient Evil 6.
As of now, Resident Evil Village is slated to release sometime next year in 2021. A more specific date was not given but as soon as we know, we will be sure to let you know.
