Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Complete Edition announced at Ubisoft Forward

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Complete Edition announced at Ubisoft Forward

Today’s Ubisoft Forward livestream event was filled with the typical Ubisoft fare. A shooter here, an open-world action game there. Heck, there was even a remake for good measure. But one announcement that really stood out was the return of the classic arcade-style brawler from the last generation: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition. The classic brawler is returning later this year.

The announcement was hinted at by the creator of the original comic, Bryan Lee O’Malley, on Twitter less than a month ago. It was a follow-up to an earlier tweet of him saying he doubted the game would ever be available again. Perhaps he was laying the seeds for this reveal, or maybe that was true at the time and somebody from Ubisoft reached out. Who knows? The game has a very dedicated fanbase, and many were dismayed at its removal from digital storefronts some years ago. It looks like Ubisoft is making up for this, however.

The announcement comes on the heels of pretty much everyone involved with any Scott Pilgrim project a few months ago — including the cult favorite film directed by Edgar Wright — championing the game and lamenting its unavailability. Even the chiptune band Anamanaguchi, which made the amazing soundtrack for the game, asked fans to tag Ubisoft and drum up attention to get the beloved game back on digital storefronts

The trailer is short, but it does appear to confirm that nothing new will be added to the game. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World will include the Knives Chau and Wallace Wells DLC add-on packs though, giving the “Complete Edition” portion of the title its justification.

It’s milk and eggs, b****!

It looks like the plan worked. While there is no word on a physical release as of now, this seems like the perfect game to get treatment from a company like Limited Run to get fans even more excited. You can join Scott and his crew to battle the seven evil ex-boyfriends once again this year, as the game has a release window of Holiday 2020.
