The Torchlight III development team has revealed that Torchlight III will leave Steam Early Access and release on October 13. It’ll set you back $39.99 USD unless you’ve already been a part of the Early Access period, in which case, the full version will be available at no extra cost.
Echtra Games has worked to integrate player feedback into the full version, which was gathered during the Early Access period. Current Steam reviews are mixed, and it will be interesting to see how the perception changes for the full release. Just last month, the relics system was completely overhauled, and relics are now their own subclasses. This was done to add diversity and character identity, and we hope more overhauls are implemented for the full release.
Torchlight III will feature all of Torchlight’s signature mechanics, including the satisfying hack-and-slash combat in a vibrant world. It also supports online 4-player cooperative multiplayer and offline single-player. The charming pet system returns from previous Torchlight games too, and all platforms will get an exclusive pet at launch.
The adventure will also introduce new features, such as three main acts, unique Relic subclasses, fully customizable forts, a challenging end-game experience, a multi-tiered progression system, and a selection of quests and boss battles across randomly-generated locations. And of course, there will be loot.
Story wise, Torchlight III takes place a century after Torchlight II. Back then, the heroes brought peace to the game’s world of Novastraia, but now the Ember Empire finds itself on the brink of collapse. It’s under threat of invasion by the Netherim and its allies, and your job is to save Novastraia.
Torchlight III leaves Steam Early Access for release on October 13. If you decide to pick the full PC version up, you’ll get access to the exclusive Violet Glittersprite pet.
